- Follow a counter-clockwise direction around the lake, in particular around the island.
- Powered vessels should give way to kayaks, swimmers, paddle boards, canoes, sail boats etc.
- Be aware of the shallow rock shoal area to the North of the island, particularly mid-summer through the fall when the water level is lower, look for the white marker buoys indicating the shoal area.
- Always be on the look out for SWIMMERS, they do not show up easily, in particular when swimming out to the island.
- Use US Coast Guard rules for safety.
- Know the law and obey it, you are responsible for your and your minors actions.
- NY State law requires that anyone operating a jet ski be at least 18 yo and have passed a NY boater safety course.
- Use US Coast Guard approved navigation lights between dusk and dawn.
- SLOW DOWN in shallow areas, always keep a safe distance from the shore.
- The island is private property owned by the Girl Scout Camp, please do not go ashore.
