Working with SUNY Oneonta, the following Lake Management Report was developed by Stradder Caves. Additional assistance came from NYSFOLA and COFOKLA. Several years of study went into this valuable document: The State of Lake Report
A Storm-water Implementation Plan, was developed for our four kettle lakes in 2017. This was funded through the National Fish and Wildlife, Chesapeake Bay Capacity Grant, under the administration of Syracuse University's Environmental Finance Center, in collaboration with Cortland County Soil & Water District. Plans were developed with public participation by Princeton Hydro LLC. You can see our plan here: Song Lake Watershed Implementation Plan

We are pleased to have a close working relationship and the support of Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District.
According to New York Codes, Rules and Regulations Title 6 CRR-NY 703.3, dissolved oxygen (DO) levels in rivers and upper lake waters should be at least 6.0 mg/L at all times. DO levels in hypolimnetic waters should be enough to support fish life, especially cold water species.
Dissolved oxygen and water temperature have an inverse relationship, meaning as water temperature increases, the amount of dissolved oxygen decreases; colder water can hold more dissolved oxygen than warmer water.
